DESCRIPTION //
On 6 November 2025, I was a speaker at World Usability Day (WUD) BZ, side event of SFSCON conference, hosted at NOI TechPark in Bolzano.
The theme of this year’s edition was “Emerging Technologies and the Human Experience”, linking local and global perspectives on how design can shape fairer, more accessible and more sustainable ways of living. The event brought together designers, artists, entrepreneurs, researchers, and activists to exchange ideas on participation, co-design, and technology. Obviously AI emerged as a hot topic, yet always framed within human and critical processes.
My talk titled “Rethinking Accessibility as Systemic Care” shared Ecosistemica’s two recent works with the MAXXI Foundation, showing how accessibility and systems thinking intersect within digital and organizational design. I focused on what it takes to build structures that respond to both collective and individual access needs.
My core argument was that caring for accessibility means being able to re-imagine institutional structures and cultures, redistributing power, and recognizing the complex relations between bodies, technologies, and contexts.
In Ecosistemica, we use co-design and speculative design practices to support this process, rejecting extractivist and techno-solutionist paradigms in favor of shared spaces of agency and mutual care. Within this framework, artificial intelligences also become agents in the co-creation of meaning and collective responsibility.
The WUD Bolzano’s program was curated by Letizia Bollini (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano) and Matteo Moretti (University of Sassari, Sheldon.studio), with support from Chiara Facchini, and was part of SFSCON 2025 in collaboration with NOI TechPark.
