Description //
The five-day training course combined theoretical lessons with a hands-on workshop.
Led by experts in AI, data visualization, systemic design, digital humanities, and museum accessibility, the lessons provided participants with the foundational vocabulary needed to understand data and its interconnections across three key areas: complexity, the body, and community.
During the workshop, students took on the role of “Data Curators,” tasked with envisioning near-future scenarios for the museum. They explored how AI and data could shape future exhibitions and related activities, imagining their potential evolution in curatorial practices.
The course also addressed the implications of integrating data generated by visitors and the museum itself into the Collection and artworks. It introduced methodologies, approaches, and tools for communicating and making this data accessible to visitors, institutions, and the artistic and scientific communities.
Co-designed by the MAXXI Museum and the research center HER: She Loves Data, the course built on their collaboration for the What a Wonderful World exhibition. That project developed an experimental prototype of a Digital Relational Ecosystem, enabling visitors to engage with the artworks and transforming the exhibition into a “data generator”.
